Joined a board... the one at Ben's school... kind of against my will. No worries. It will not happen again, at least, not under the same circumstances as this year.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No, my one resolution was to get to church on a regular basis, but Simon became rather anti being without mommy and it kind of killed our church-going-groove. But, it's a new year and we have a plan!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Tons of people. I'm in that age group where everyone I know is either trying to get pregnant, pregnant or has a baby and doesn't want to get pregnant for awhile or ever again.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, just a fish or two.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. :( Not even the Epcot ones!
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 11th -- Mother's Day and Simon's first birthday!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably successfully hosting Simon's birthday party at our tiny house
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting to church regularly, also that I now somehow have TWO picky eaters
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Lots of colds, one round of stomach virus, cut my thumb slicing tomatoes at least a hundred times
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Canon!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Benjamin - he has turned into the most awesome kid ever (not that Simon is not equally awesome... but he's not 4 yet.. 4 has turned out to be so fun!)
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The usual suspects
14. Where did most of your money go?
Insurance deductible, copays, new patio/deck
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Disney/Vero last January, Ben's birthday, Simon's birthday, the beach, Anastasia's birthday, Christmas
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
I'll get back to you on this as soon as I get the stupid Hippotamus for Christmas song out of my head
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
a little sadder... while my own circumstances are fortunate and I am quite happy with my life and grateful for my health, my family and all I am blessed with, the world itself kinda sucks right now and I'm not sure I see it getting much better and it kinda nags at me.
18. Thinner or fatter?
About the same, though that stomach virus knocked about five pounds off overnight! Yeehaw!
19. Richer or poorer?
Unchanged, for the most part
20. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Appreciating getting to play outside when the weather was warm... even when it meant I had to haul two kids, two bikes, a scooter and a bag of toys across the street and back home again. It was still better than being housebound with two kids and it being freezing outside
21. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting time on the internet... though I doubt I'll ever kick that habit
22. How will you be spending Christmas?
Same as this year, I hope! It'd be kinda fun to be perhaps looking forward to the birth of another niece or nephew, but who knows. ;)
23. Did you fall in love in 2008?
with my camera! ;)
24. Any one night stands?
Remind to just delete this stupid question next year.
25. What was your favorite TV program?
Lost, when it was on.... and House. Also discovered How I Met Your MOther... LOVE that show!
26. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
nah. Hate is too much work.
27. What was the best book you read?
Multiple Blessings by Kate Gosslin. I know she is controversial and everyone thinks she is overbearing and evil. But the book itself was inspiring... lots of great Bible verses sprinkled throughout and in a context that makes them really uplifting to moms. I thought it was a great, quick read and highly recommend checking it out if you need a pick-me-up as a mom.
28. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Again, when Hippo leaves me head, I'll get back to you.
29. What did you want and get?
A digital SLR and a steam cleaner!
30. What did you want and not get?
My L.L. Bean Duck Shoes that I have asked for for the last
31. What was your favorite film of this year?
NO idea...
32. What did you do on your birthday?
How sad that I do not remember. I guess I could check the blog!

Getting into a better routine with weekly cooking, grocery shopping...

Mom casual

My mom

I always miss people I've lost touch with
39. Who was the best new person you met?
?
40. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Children are ALL different, even when they have the same parents. The lessons you learned raising one will not necessarily apply to subsequent kids or to other peoples' kids. Kids humble you FAST!
41. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I want a hippopatumus for Christmas... jfkdalfjkdalgjh&%*$(&%*( drat.
