I Love This Kid...

He always has a smile or a funny pose for the camera. I was joking to Tom this morning that, well, you know how people refer to certain people as "old souls"? This one?

 Definitely his first time around.

To him, there is nothing too small to be worthy of excitement and wonder.  :) I love that.

Filed Under Things I Always Want to Remember...

Whenever I get up with the baby in the middle of the night, I always wander to the older boys' rooms to go check on them, make sure they are covered up, lights are off etc. Ben often stays up reading or playing his DS and will fall asleep in all kinds of contorted positions and with the lights on. Simon sometimes doesn't land on the pillow when he finally passes out. So I just like to go sort of put them where they belong.

Three out of the last five nights I have done this, I have gone in Ben's room and found the lights on and his bed empty. It always startles me for a moment until I wake up enough to realize where he is...

... and then I head through the shared bathroom and open Simon's door and find them sleeping toe to toe in the bottom bunk, or even completely sprawled across each other with a pile of books and Pokemon cards surrounding them.

So Sweet....

Everytime I open the refrigerator, I find at least one of Jonathan's teethers on the lowest shelf just inside the door. Took me a few days to figure out which child was putting them there. Turns out, Simon gathers them up and puts them there throughout the day "so Jonathan always has cold ones to chew on."

The Best...

The boys and Tom are playing hide and seek in the living room right now... Simon just walked by me with his hands over his eyes going, "One, Two, Fee, Four, Four, Four, Four, Two, Fee...." I couldn't help but laugh out loud...

The kid cracks me UP!

This Just Makes Me Laugh...

Whenever Simon is ready to eat and is getting impatient with me while I get his food ready, I catch him trying to pick off the Cheerios from one of Ben's school projects that is hanging on the fridge. He gets really frustrated too because those suckers are glued on pretty well. ;)

This Makes Me Laugh...

Simon webs Ben. He makes the same "pshhh!!!" sound Ben does when he is playing Spiderman and points his finger when he does it. It cracks me up. Must get it on video. :) He will even to do it completely randomly when Ben isn't even playing Spiderman. For example, when Ben and I went in to get him from his nap this afternoon, the first thing he did was web us. Hee.

Good Ben...

Just so it doesn't come across that I think Ben is 100% Evil, I thought I'd follow up that post with this. (for the record, I think maybe he's only about 2% Evil because frankly, I don't have people over that often) ;)

Yesterday, we went to his second cousin's 3rd birthday. He was adorable and the model of good behavior. He and his cousin Keira get along amazingly well (and I can see why, they seem to have a lot in common) and he had a blast playing with her and her other cousins and friends.

It was a Disney princess party, Ben's second in two weeks, and he was such a good sport. He played Pin the Princess on the Castle and won a princess coloring book, which he happily gave to one of the little girls at my suggestion. Then he won the other party game (Pass the Parcel... played to Princess music), and tried to give away his prize again, which was a Hershey bar. I told him he could keep that one. ;)

Afterwards, we went out to dinner and he was so excited to wear his orange sunglasses from the goody bag into the restaurant. He then proceeded to charm our waitress through the entire meal.

When we got home, he asked to snuggle. So after I put Simon to bed, I went in and he wanted to pretend we were fish. We played fish (a game that involves lots of hiding and jumping out, apparently) for awhile and then we played a game where he would announce "Let's be ominous!" (a word which Ben will tell you means "really scary!", thanks grandmom for that one) which also involved a lot of hiding and jumping out and making scary faces and then he just chatted away about various things.

Our power went out around 9:30 and the smoke alarm protested, as it always does, and woke him up. He was really upset because he hates that thing (as do we all), but perked up when we went outside. Yes, that's right, we went outside at 9:30p.m.... this is because we realized pretty quickly it was going to be a long outage and started seeing flashlights and hearing kids' voices. Sure enough, the neighbors had come out to play! He ran around with flashlights and glowsticks until 10-something. I think that fun little jaunt will probably we one of those childhood memories that will stick with him forever. It's not everyday you get to go outside at 9:30 in your pajamas and run around in the dark. ;)

Anyway, after that, he contentedly snuggled with us bed (the power was still out) and went to sleep.

I seriously had SO much fun with him yesterday, which was something that was much needed after the evilness that was the day before...

A Brothers First...

Today was the first time both boys rode in the car shaped grocery cart together. ;)

I wish I had had my camera because it was extremely adorable and quite funny. Even strangers kept peeking into the cart and giggling. It happened because Simon spotted the firetruck out front and practically dove out of my arms to get to it. He loves riding on the little bikes and cars outside and sits very still, so I figured we'd give it a try. He happily "drove" with Ben for probably half the grocery trip. Then all heck broke loose when Ben got a lollipop from the bank and Simon wanted it. There was a pushing incident and some crying, which resulted in Tom and I having to trade off carrying Simon through the rest of the store. I don't think I'll be trying this on my own anytime soon, but it was glimpse of things to come (both good and bad). :)
