Home sweet home. :)
Just finished unpacking and taking a break before I carry all the luggage and other miscellanea down to the basement.
Random tidbits from this week:
* Biggest lesson learned this week: You should never walk down to the beach in the morning without shoes. The sun only makes things hotter as the day goes on and you may find yourself shoeless, stranded and with burned feet.
* Speaking of heat, Simon now says "hot!", though it sounds like "haaaaah" He says it whenever he sees steam in the kitchen. He also calls very cold things "haaaah", so I'm not sure how good his actual comprehension of the word is. ;)
* He's also walking all over the place. I don't think he crawled the whole week we were away. As a result, he is now sporting a number of new bruises, including a nice one on his left cheek where he fell into the side of a door. Good times.
* We came home to a completely demolished deck. (this was intentional, but still strange to come home to) I'm extremely paranoid I'm going to sleepwalk out the patio door and plunge 20 feet to my death!
* Ben's hermit crab is still alive.
* Can't say the same for the tadpole. (although no body has been located... we can only assume the worst)
* Yay for no traffic on the drive home!
Off to pay some bills and finish putting things in storage. Thank you to Yaya Joanie for having us at the beach once again. And to The Village (of grandmom, Aunt Debbie and Yaya Joanie) for the all the watching, bathing and entertainment of the kids while we were there. It was a much appreciated and enjoyed vacation!

Introducing... Kermit the Almost Frog
This is Kermit.
He is a tadpole who is temporarily residing in our aquarium until he becomes a frog. We thought it would be a fun thing for Ben to get to watch. The guy we bought him from (for $1.49 at Valley View Farms if any of you locals have an aquarium* and want to go adopt one of Kermit's siblings) says his transformation should be complete by the end of the summer.
He's earning his keep by eating algae, which is more than I can say for the Plecostomus fish we bought to do that job who lived for approximately 8 hours before kicking the bucket.
I'll put all Kermit-related posts under one label so you can all follow along on his fish-to-frog progress. ;)
When he is officially a frog, we'll take him down to the marshy place that is in one of our neighborhood common areas... he'll find lots of friends there. :)
