The First Day...

This morning went off without a hitch... except that when I took the official first day picture by the doors of the church, I had my camera (old, not new, haven't gotten that one yet), on some weird setting because I was operating it with one hand and keeping Simon from running off with the other. Hence, why THE picture... the only one that mattered, turned out like this.

I might try for a replacement on Monday. ;)

We went in and Ben didn't even turn around, so Simon and I busied ourselves for a bit. I wanted to take just a handful of pics before we left.

Ben putting his name on the attendance board:

I met some of the moms of the kids in Ben's class, and one of them, I have decided is going to be my BFF. ;) Her name is Kelly and she has a little girl named Taylor. Kelly did all the photo stuff (harassing of other parents for pics) for Taylor's class last year and put together an end of the year photobook, much like my little slideshow I did for Ben's class. We chatted a bit about how hard it is to get pics from some parents... bleh. She is awesome and sweet and has a Nikon d40 she was taking pics with this morning, so we talked cameras a bit. Between us, Ben and Taylor's class is going to be the most photographed class ever. Heh.

After that, I wandered out to the car to get Simon's bag so he could have a drink and snack to keep his hands busy so he'd leave Mrs. Bobo's scissors alone and hopefully stop running away from me.

When I returned, this is what I found...

This is Georgia. She is helping my son put on a dress.

...and my son is not putting up a fight... in fact, he is checking himself out in the mirror.

My little fairy princess...

The view from behind...

The parents were rolling... well, the moms were, anyway. There was one father there who just kept shaking his head and sarcastically saying how much my husband was going to just LOVE these pictures.

When I picked Ben up, the teacher's assistant told me that he had to go to the bathroom while he was wearing the dress. She asked him if he needed help. He told her no, got himself out of it, did his business and then put it back on.

I asked him on the drive home what his favorite thing about his new classroom is and he told me the costumes. I asked him who is favorite new friend was and he said Georgia... "because we wore dresses together." He then volunteered that Mrs. Bobo doesn't have any boy costumes. This made me sad and I'm thinking we may need to donate some, lest my little boy be wearing a dress three days a week for the next nine months... not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

Wedding Recap and Photo Blitz...

Well, the wedding is over and what a day is was! The weather couldn't have been more perfect, especially considering it was horrendous the day before.

First, may I state that Taylor and Sarah had what was quite possibly the coolest and most amusing wedding cake ever.

Can't see what it is? How's this?

For those who are still confused, it's Link and Zelda, from the Nintendo game, Legend of Zelda. SO cute. Aside from being just quirky and funny, which I love, I think this also sums up Taylor and Sarah's playful relationship really well. ;) When they cut the cake, all of Taylor's friends started humming the Legend of Zelda theme song. Really and truly, a piece of genius this cake was.

The photographer insisted we pose this picture of me "pinning" Ben's boutenir boutenneer flower on his lapel.

And, while it did turn out cute, I think THIS picture better sums up how Ben felt about the whole situation.

In the meantime, Little Dude did a lot of this.

The ceremony started and, despite sitting in THE HOTTEST and sunniest part of the seating area and holding a wriggly Simon on my lap while simultaenously trying to take pictures and keep my lens from fogging up. I managed to get a FEW decent pics...

This is the only one I got of Ben standing with the bridal party. He sat down shortly after this... he did a great job though and walked down the aisle like a pro. I'm told he struck a pose for the photographer on the way down, but I missed it. Hopefully a picture of that will surface eventually.

Taylor watching Sarah come down the aisle. I always love this picture at weddings...

Sarah was a beautiful bride

The kiss!

After the ceremony, while we waited (and waited and waited and waited) for the bridal party to finish taking pictures outside, Simon rattled his cage some more. Eventually, his cousin joined him, but I didn't manage to actually get a picture of this.

Where's the bridal party? Oh yeah, STILL taking pictures. They did a really cute thing though... since this was at a golf club, they took pics of everyone on the green swinging golf clubs. The photographer kept lieing to Ben about "this is the last picture!" and he was NONE too pleased about the situation and had no problem voicing his feelings. Oy. It was almost a meltdown situation...

I wanted one of the boys together, but this was the best I got. However, it pretty much sums up the difference in their personalities. Mr. Happy and Mr. Serious.

Finally, it was time for the bridal party to be announced... Ben was announced as "Master Benjamin Graff" and walked in with his hands on his hips.
Then he stood in front of the d.j. waiting for... ? I had to go out and drag him off the floor...

Then came the bride and groom!

And they apparently weren't yet tired of posing...

...or kissing...

And here's my niece-lette... there were WAY better pictures of her that were not taken by me. The photographers followed her around until she left. I think Krystyna is going to be ordering lots of pics from them. ;)

Toasts... that went on forever.

Ben and Anastasia

The D.J. is actually also Ben's Gymboree teacher and she was so great! She brought Ben a bunch of little things to distribute throughout the night. This top hat was one of them. Does she know my kid, or what? She also brought glow necklaces for all the kids and they all just had a ball!

The wives club! Don't we clean up nice? ;)

First dance. They danced to the cutest song... it's called Silver, by Carrie Newcomer. Go download it! ;)

My camera was KILLING me... so slow and not at all liking the lighting. I played with every single setting during their first dance and almost ALL my pics turned out blurry. I did kind of think this one was cool though!

Then Sarah danced with her dad and Taylor danced with his mom... :)

Lots of dancing... at some point feather boas, sunglasses and tambourines appeared on the scene. This is Sarah and her friends and then Sarah and Taylor getting "Low low low low low low..."

Ben and Tom going nuts...

I told you there were tambourines...

Ben and Delaney (second cousins) drew a crowd with their crazy dancing... these two see each other once a year but ALWAYS have a great time together.

Cake time! There was no smashing, much to my disappointment. ;)

More kissing...

And then I assume everyone lived happily ever after. :)

We left shortly after this. (btw, the cake was delicious)... Ben finally hit his wall just before 10p.m. He got stuck with the pin from his flower and just LOST it.

All in all though, a wonderful time had by all! Congratulations to my BIL and brand-new SIL! :)

Neighbors -- Even Away from Home... ;)

So, as it turns out, our good friends and neighbors, The Collins Family, stay at the next beach down every summer. This year, our vacations coincided so we decided to meet up and let the boys play. Never have you seen such excited little boys! We took them to FunLand on the Rehoboth boardwalk, which was new to me, but SO cute. Turns out Ben is kind of wimp when it comes to even the kiddiest of kiddy rides. (I can't really talk, he gets this from me) Trey, on the other hand, loves to be scared! Ben watched Trey ride lots of rides. ;)

They did get on a few together though and just generally had fun running around and being together away from the 'hood. It was so much fun just watching them! :)

Easter/Birthday Extravaganza Weekend Part II...

Busy day! Church... Sunday School was apparently a grand old time. The gave the kids jellybeans and Ben was VERY happy when we picked him up. Later, it was off to Nanee and Pap's for an egghunt, a birthday celebration and Easter dinner. :)

My baby is FOUR tomorrow... stay tuned for gratuitous sentimental posts and pictures and such.

In the meantime, here are a million and one pics from today. :)

Egg hunting at Nanee and Pap's...
